The debut 45 from Bob Day and John Alford, released following the duo's attaining runners-up status at the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest in Cannes (the contest was won by Jean-Claude Pascal representing Luxembourg). The record got to #2 in the UK charts and eventually sold a million copies and is a really charming pop composition.
The musical arrangement was by Harry Robinson who issued a few 45's under his own name, wrote and produced "Hoots Mon" for Jack Good and later did much film soundtrack work and also notable string arrangements for contemporary artists, one of the best-loved being "River Man", the second track on Nick Drake's acclaimed "Five Leaves Left" album.
The vinyl is in lovely condition and at the moment is sleeved in a Philips / Fontana company bag. However, I will try to source the correct 1961-era red, black and white sleeve.
