CD Albums

The introduction of the compact disc or CD album came about after experimentation in the mid-1970's by the Philips and Sony corporations, which led to its formal commercial introduction (alongside the equipment upon which to play it) in 1982. The format was promoted by music companies as having improved qualities of sound definition, the ability to listen to longer pieces throughout (especially advantageous for the classical market), better durability and smaller storage requirements. Companies were also quick to realise that a facility likely to be very popular with customers was the accompaniment of a booklet giving details of the history of the artists, all the personnel and production staff and so on.

Though I hope to have a great many cd's for sale in due course, the SQR site is primarily for the sale of records in the vinyl formats.
