October 1979 UK chart entry which reached #60. Arguably the first (mainly) female punk band, the group at this time consisted of Ari Up (v), Viv Albertine (lg), Tessa Pollitt (bg) and Budgie (dms). The record, catalogued as WIP 6505, comes in a generic Island 'palm tree' company sleeve; the sleeve has some slight ringwear and the label near the spindle hole has a minute tear; there is a slight mark NAP on the B-side, their extraordinary cover of "Heard It Through The Grapevine", otherwise the vinyl is very clean. As the slogan says, 'Marvin creates it, The Slits rate it'.
