Rock & Roll
1950s

'Seminal' is an over-used adjective in many facets of culture, but I think the epithet is completely justified in this case. The record that launched a thousand quiffs, accompanied the destruction of countless cinema seats and caused outrage in the conservative media of the day, "Rock Around The Clock" brought Haley to the British public's attention - and how - and is still regarded as hugely influential. This copy comes in its Brunswick birth sleeve which has the title written thereon in very small type at all the top corners and the letter 'D'. The label has silver typeface and the vinyl is very clean, just a couple of very slight surface marks but has a beautiful sheen on both sides. The B-side, "Thirteen Woman" is a fine piece of work in its own right and tends to be overlooked because of the recognition accorded to the A-side. Undoubtedly a landmark record and, for an item dating from 1954 in brilliant condition.
