Don Woody's "Barking Up The Wrong Tree" had originally been issued on U.S. Decca in 1957 and had been a minor hit. What quirk of fate or marketing caused this 1976 release on MCA records to come about, heaven only knows. It failed to reach the UK charts despite receiving extensive airplay, especially on BBC Radio 1. Woody's vocals have a great homespun charm about them but the song is driven along at a rattling pace by the world-class Grady Martin And His Slewfoot Five, also with great piano accompaniment.
The B-side is the slightly odd "Cast Iron Arm" by singer and double bass player Peanuts Wilson. This came out on U.S. Brunswick in 1957. Both originals command a high price at auction so why not go for this NM re-issue at a bargain price? The record comes in a plain white sleeve.
